Gas fuelled Capacity Market Power plant opens

Green Frog Power are please to announce the completion and successful testing of their first gas fuelled power plants at the Drove in Bridgewater Somerset and at Grange Road in Letchworth Bedfordshire.

These two power plants represent the first MWs of power to be commissioned under the Governments new Capacity Market. The combined 21MW were built in only 5 months and are now fully operational. Although these are relatively small sites for Green Frog, it is an early indication of things to come, and lays the foundations for future developments. The company hold capacity contracts with National Grid to build a total of 229MWe . 5 further sites are now under construction and are scheduled to be operational by next winter. Mark Jones Managing Director said “This is an exciting time of growth for the company the first two sites went perfectly to plan and came on line ahead of schedule. We are looking forward to delivering our planned 1000MW in the next 3 years. Our fast responding efficient and clean gas plant is just what the market needs and we are delivering faster than anyone.”

In 2016 Green Frog will be undertaking long term testing of a number of types of 100% renewable biofuel. In each case the supply chain has been audited to verify the manufacturers claims to ensure the fuel is genuinely renewable and is not taking from the human food chain.
