Connecting power generation to the grid

The key requirement of any new power plant is a grid connection.

Green Frog Connect was set up to meet Green Frog's growing demand for such connections.

Since their inception in 2012, they have grown to become the UK’s leading ICP (Independent Connections Provider), focusing exclusively on power generation and energy projects. Fully accredited by Lloyd’s Register to design high-voltage grid-connections up to 132kVA, to date they have realised over 1,400MW of live or under construction power generation connections for gas, energy storage, solar, wind and energy from waste.

In 2015, Green Frog Connect began offering EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Contractor services for embedded power generation projects, expanding their scope to include civil works and balance of plant. As EPC Contractors, they have been responsible for the construction of 486MW of STOR and Capacity Market projects, with a further 530MW in the development pipeline.

Green Frog Gas Utilities can provide a fully managed gas infrastructure solution for large scale industrial and commercial developments.

Specialists in the design, project management and construction of gas infrastructure within the highly regulated and controlled gas utilities sector, Green Frog Gas Utilities provide a tailored service to the gas industry. As a Utility Infrastructure Provider (UIP) accredited by Lloyds Register, supplemented with expertise in power generation and high-pressure infrastructure, Green Frog Gas Utilities can provide a unique wide range of expertise across all pressure tiers and gas industry disciplines that are safe, reliable and cost-effective.

£100million raised to build new power stations

8th May 2018

Funding secured by Green Frog Power – from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, HSBC and NIBC Bank – will finance 11 new gas-fuelled sites to be built across the UK, from Plymouth to Newcastle. Once online, the power stations will help ensure the UK’s energy resilience, allowing renewable sources to contribute more power to the grid.

Zero injuries onsite in over 20,000 hours worked

6th February 2018

Our latest 20MW embedded gas plant, at Cattedown Business Park in Plymouth, was completed ahead of time, with zero injuries.

Working closely with Green Frog Connect, the project was completed to tight timescales after winning a capacity market obligation in National Grid’s Early Auction on 3rd February 2017, for delivery by October 2017. Located on a challenging site, the plant occupies a site previously utilised as a tip for building material and a quarry. Despite the tight timescales, the site was generating and available for export from mid-September, and is now available to respond to Capacity Market Warnings issued by National Grid.
